Build the specification in layers
A packaging specification normally combines a structural board, a surface paper or printed layer, and selected finishing processes. Each layer has a different role in strength, colour, texture and durability.
Use finish to support hierarchy
Foil stamping draws attention to logos and fine accents. Embossing or debossing creates tactile emphasis. Spot UV adds controlled gloss contrast, while lamination can protect print and change the hand feel.
Avoid finishing without purpose
More processes do not automatically create a more premium result. A restrained material palette, accurate colour and one well-executed focal detail often feel more considered than several competing effects.
Test colour and texture physically
Screens cannot reproduce paper tone, metallic reflection or tactile depth accurately. Review representative samples and approve a physical prototype for colour-critical or texture-led projects.
